KiwiSaver
First home buyers can use their KiwiSaver contributions as a deposit for a house. You can withdraw some or all of your KiwiSaver savings (except for the $1,000 kick-start and member tax credit) to put towards buying your first home. You need to have been a KiwiSaver member for three or more years and you can only withdraw money to buy your first home. For more information, go to kiwisaver.govt.nz
First Home Grant
If you’re a first-time home buyer, or a previous homeowner and you’ve been making regular KiwiSaver contributions for 3 – 5 years, you may be eligible for a First Home Grant of up to $10,000. To apply for pre-approval, you need to complete the First Home Grant application, including documents that show your income and KiwiSaver contributions, at kaingaora.govt.nz
